First off, I’d like to wish anyone who celebrates it a happy Hanukkah! In the spirit of the holiday season, I’d like to provide some opportunities to help those in need in our community.
First off, the Boston Latin School Junior Classical League (BLSJCL) is partnering with Rosie’s Place, the oldest women’s shelter in the country, to host a youth-driven food drive to provide for 250 women daily as well as more than 500 members of their households. You can contribute directly to the virtual food drive by clicking here, or sharing the link with family and friends. BLSJCL and Rosie’s Place would both like to thank you in advance for your contributions!
You can also contribute to food drives in specific neighborhoods in Boston. The following is a list of a few options for different parts of our city. Please consider donating if you are able, especially because so many families are struggling with COVID this year.
West Roxbury: Rose’s Bounty is accepting donations of food, money, and even your services if you are interested in volunteering! Find more information here.
Hyde Park: The Hyde Park Food Pantry is currently looking for volunteers who could help with their Food Pantry deliveries on Wednesday mornings. If you are interested, click here to find out more!
Dorchester: Interfaith Social Services accepts non-perishable, monetary, toiletry, and produce donations Monday through Friday. Visit their website here to learn more!
Allston/Brighton: The Allston/Brighton Neighborhood Opportunity Center provides many services to its beneficiaries such as meals, clothing and essentials, and food stamps. Find out how to make a donation here!
